NPD_REMARKS Equipment 999 0001 =The Volador 3D survey used four HSSL/Nessie 2 digital streamers that were 3800m NPD_REMARKS Equipment 999 0081 =long with dual Geco-Prakla 5th generation cluster airgun arrays operating at 200 NPD_REMARKS Equipment 999 0161 =0 psi and with a capacity of 2331 cu. in.. The recording instrument type was GDR NPD_REMARKS Equipment 999 0241 =-1000 with tape density of 37871 bpi. The hydrophone type was Teledyne T-1. For NPD_REMARKS Equipment 999 0321 =the 2D velocity section, only one streamer with one source was used. NPD_REMARKS Grid 999 0001 =The Volador 3D survey had shooting directions of 240/060 degrees. NPD_REMARKS Location 999 0001 =The Volador 3D survey for 1994/5 was situated in the South East of the Victorian NPD_REMARKS Location 999 0081 = coast in the Bass Strait. The survey area was located approximately 40 nautical NPD_REMARKS Location 999 0161 = miles from the coast, approximately 40 nautical miles to the South East of Lake NPD_REMARKS Location 999 0241 =s Entrance and 100 nautical miles East North East of Wilsons Promontory. The pro NPD_REMARKS Location 999 0321 =spect was close to several other production platforms in the ESSO Gippsland Basi NPD_REMARKS Location 999 0401 =n oil/gas field. The nearest platforms to the prospect were the Halibut, Fortesq NPD_REMARKS Location 999 0481 =ue, Cobia, and Mackerel platforms which were located to the North West corner of NPD_REMARKS Location 999 0561 = the area. The Flounder platform was located to the North of the area. NPD_REMARKS Navigation 999 0001 =Primary navigation for the Volador 3D survey was by Racal Multifix, reference st NPD_REMARKS Navigation 999 0081 =ations used were Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne. Secondary navigation was by Omn NPD_REMARKS Navigation 999 0161 =istar DGPS by Fugro Survey Pty Ltd, reference stations used were Melbourne, Adel NPD_REMARKS Navigation 999 0241 =aide and Brisbane. The backup system was TRINAV GPS (GECOGPS), reference station NPD_REMARKS Navigation 999 0321 =s Adelaide, Sydney, and Melbourne. The spheroid used was the Australian National NPD_REMARKS Navigation 999 0401 = Spheroid, with a UTM projection, and a Central Meridian of 147 deg. The datum s NPD_REMARKS Navigation 999 0481 =hift from WGS84 TO AGD66 used the following parameters: Dx=+123.314m, Dy=+47.223 NPD_REMARKS Navigation 999 0561 =m, Dz=-136.594m. NPD_REMARKS Objective 999 0001 =The area of interest lies on the existing Volador-1 well and a further mapping o NPD_REMARKS Objective 999 0081 =f the associated structures. Target horizons lie in the 2.0-2.5 second range. NPD_REMARKS Processing 999 0001 =17 lines from the surveys GS81B and GS82B were reprocessed totaling 261.4 km of NPD_REMARKS Processing 999 0081 =data. This data was reprocessed in a 8 node HP Meta Series, two Convex C220 supe NPD_REMARKS Processing 999 0161 =rcomputers, 3 HP712 workstation and one Digital Equipment Corporation's VAX 8650 NPD_REMARKS Processing 999 0241 ='s. The TANGO system was used to process the data onboard for which the quality NPD_REMARKS Processing 999 0321 =was generally good. Volador 3D processing focused on correctly positioning and i NPD_REMARKS Processing 999 0401 =maging reflection energy despite the deep channeling and rugosity of the water b NPD_REMARKS Processing 999 0481 =ottom. In addition to conventional 3D poststack time migration, a poststack dept NPD_REMARKS Processing 999 0561 =h process was done. Derivation of the 3D velocity model of use in the depth migr NPD_REMARKS Processing 999 0641 =ation process was a major portion of the project. A relatively small portion of NPD_REMARKS Processing 999 0721 =the adjacent South Marlin Channel 3D survey was incorporated into the processing NPD_REMARKS Processing 999 0801 =. Generally the data appears of good quality. The main sources of noise come fro NPD_REMARKS Processing 999 0881 =m swell bursts an diffraction energy. The swell noise appears randomly and is si NPD_REMARKS Processing 999 0961 =gnificant only below 4 seconds. NPD_REMARKS Summary 999 0001 =74 sail lines of variable length were produced. 32% of the time was spent on sta NPD_REMARKS Summary 999 0081 =ndby due to adverse weather conditions. No major technical problems were encount NPD_REMARKS Summary 999 0161 =ered, as most maintenance was performed during the frequent periods of bad weath NPD_REMARKS Summary 999 0241 =er.
